Northern Rhone Tour

Rhone Wine Tours are offering our clients an opportunity to explore the Northern part of our valley, so rich in fabulous vinous treats... dark, smoky Syrah from the granite and schist slopes of Cote Rotie... exotic floral Viognier from Condrieu... majestic powerful Syrah and Marsanne wines from the legendary Hermitage Hill and more!

Each tour will cover a selection of the great estates/negotiants and smaller passionate artisan producers.
A minimum of 4 guests applies to these tours and they are private

The Tour

3 nights in the area with 2 days intensive wine touring days during which we explore a wide selection of appellations and producers

We look to visit 4 wineries per day over the 2 tour days. I never guarantee specific wineries in advance as my appointments are usually private and will depend on the availability of key personnel on the dates we are considering - often the winemaker!

However, to illustrate, my network currently comprises the following in the North: Christophe Pichon; Jean-Michel Gerin; Yves Cuilleron; Pierre Gaillard; Delas; Chapoutier ; Jean-Luc Colombo; Alain Graillot; Jean-Paul Ainé; Alain Voge; Vin de Vienne..as well as some less well known artisans such as Domaine des Rosiers ( Condrieu/Cote Rotie) and Domaine Durand (Cornas/Saint Joseph), Domaine Colombier ( Hermitage/Crozes Hermitage)

Accommodation

I will recommend hotel accommodation in the most suitable localities according to our itinerary (most likely Tain L'Hermitage and Condrieu) and according to your budget. Hotels used in the past have included: ‘Fac & Spera’ - owned by Chapoutier - in Tain L'Hermitage ; ‘Hotel 2Coteaux’ in Tain L'Hermitage, Hotel Beau Rivage in Condrieu.

Hotel accommodation is outside of our tour fee.

Meals

I will also recommend restaurants for our meals. Restaurants used in the past include Chapoutier's in-house dining rooms, the bistro at Fac & Spera, the magnificent restaurant attached to the Beau Rivage hotel a, the restaurant of Paul Jaboulet Aine in Tain L'Hermitage, and Assemblage restaurant in Tournon.

Cost

For a bespoke private tour such as this my preferred charging approach is a daily fee to cover the setting up of the tour - all private appointments, my guiding during the tour ( I am a WSET diploma holding accredited wine tutor with 14 years experience in the Rhone valley), my services as your driver in a Mercedes Vito 9 seater, transfers to/from your arrival in the area.

Accommodation and meals (including that of your guide - I require only very modest lodging) are at the expense of guests, as are any tasting fees imposed by wineries.
